Twitter! YAY!

Image
My EOTO project was about Twitter, I really enjoyed researching the app because it is an app that i use often and on the daily.  The app was created by two ex-Google employees in an apartment with their friends. They originally planned to create an app in order for people to share podcasts, but then Apple soon released their podcast app and they knew that their app could not compete with Apple so they moved their minds on to a different app that they had an idea for called Twtr. The site was originally made to be a SMS app but in groups; one message sent to lots of people at one time. The app was essentially a giant group chat but the messages had to be short and remain under 140 characters. Over the time the app evolved into the groups being followers and people shared whatever was happening in their lives. The apps biggest role within society is its use within politics and journalism. Campaigns often depend greatly on the use of social media to share messages but the biggest is tw

Blog Post #5

https://www.blackagendareport.com/cia-goes-hbcu This article had a strong start that made valid point that had me stringing along for a bit. However, after the 3rd paragraph the subject seems to change and feels as if it went on about a few random things about Trump finding anyway to go against black communities. The article first starts off speaking about the CIA creating a program within HBCUs in the south. The article is clearly very biased against the current president, however the author makes a few somewhat reasonable points in order to support his claim but later just turns into a rant. The article is written within a liberal black community that speaks their opinion on politics, the environment, education and multiple other topics.

Blog Post #3 Facebook Loophole

Facebook has a giant loop hole that avoids uses from sharing and creating fake news. The site removed editable link previews 2 years ago, which are a way to share fake news. Link previews are normally what are seen on ad pop-up and news outlet links. They are often the title of the story or a small description of what the link leads too. However these link previews were once editable which led to fake news being spread. Recently a user explained that they found a glitch in Facebooks code that still allowed users to edit link previews if the link was being shared into a facebook group. the article claims that Facebook is aware of the issue and has yet to fix the problem. I can see how this is not a big deal since most information is not shared in groups. However if information is being shared in large political group it is understandable how this can effect peoples views and opinions. Either way i do not think one should be able to change link previews. It almost makes the link as u

Supreme Court Process

The Supreme Court aka the S.C.O.T.U.S. is an integral of the law system in the U.S.  The supreme court requires multiple steps to in order to get anything actually seen by the judges. Having a case seen in the supreme court isn't as easy as getting a case seen in lower courts and the possibility of the case making it that high are also slim. the case has to go through all of the lower courts and you have to have had appealed as many times possible before being able to write a writ of certiorari, however that does not guarantee that your case will be seen. It only means that it will go to the attorney general who will decide if it is worth going through another process in order to actually be heard. I came across the video while watching the video that was recommended, I really enjoyed how this video made complicated information into something that was easy to comprehend.
